Star Wars: The Clone Wars is an American 3D CGI animated television series created by George Lucas and produced by Lucasfilm Animation.
The series is set during the three years between prequel films Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. While many episodes act as standalone stories, several others come together to form story arcs that further develop characters crucial to the war. Many of these stories focus on Jedi Anakin Skywalker, his apprentice Ashoka Tanno, Obi-Wan Kenobi, other Jedi, and even some of the clone troopers. Many episodes focus on the Republic and Separatists battle in winning systems over in order to gain an advantage in the war.
Why It Was Cancelled Edit
Lucasfilm decided to "wind down" on the series after being purchased by The Walt Disney Company in 2012, leading to the series cancellation in 2013, as the current channel, Cartoon Network, was associated with Warner Bros., a rival company, and to focus on the Star Wars sequel trilogy of films and successor series, Star Wars Rebels.
Continuation and revival Edit
On March 7, 2014, a sixth season of unaired episodes, titled The Lost Missions, premiered on Netflix. A project known as The Clone Wars Legacy was created, adapting three story arcs that were initially planned but never fully developed. These arcs were adapted into other formats starting in August 2014.
On July 19, 2018, Lucasfilm announced at San Diego Comic-Con that The Clone Wars would return with 12 new episodes. The new season will be its final and is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on February 21, 2020.
